Les Brown has come up the hard way. He's risen from the ranks of poverty to
become one of America's leading speakers. Born in the Liberty City section of
Miami in 1945, Les and his twin brother were adopted at the age of six-weeks
by a single woman.
A bored and unmotivated student, Les Brown was mistakenly declared "educably
mentally retarded" (EMR) in the fourth grade.
Yet his hunger to learn and his passion for self-improvement enabled him to
rise above even those who labeled him. He became a disc-jockey and a
community activist. He served three terms in the Ohio State Legislature and
became chairman of its Human Resources Committee.
Today, Les Brown conducts seminars and motivational training for Fortune 500
companies as well as inspirational seminars for those who want to improve
their lives and their relationships. Les Brown speaks to thousands of people
in person and to hundreds of thousands using video and audio tapes as well as
through his television specials.
Les Brown is the recipient of the coveted CPAE award presented by the National
Speakers Association in recognition of his exemplary skills as a publis speaker.
