Lou's Legacy
by Lou Holtz
When Lou Holtz took Over as the 27th head football coach at Notre Dame in November of 1985,
he was inheriting a team that had not won a National Championship since 1977, or finished
the national rankings since 1980.
With a reputation for rebuilding college football programs, Lou wasted little time in guiding
the Irish back to national prominence. By playing in January 1 Bowl Game in just his second
season, winning a National Championship in his third and finishing in the top six in the national
rankings four more times in his career, Lou proved that he was the right man to lead the Irish
back to the top.
The National Championship, a Heisman Trophy winner, two Lombardi Trophy winners, Numerous
All-Americans, a record twenty -three game win streak, countless wins over ranked opponents,
and a "Coach of the Year" award are just some of the accomplishments that helped create
"Lou's Legacy".
Narrated by long-time "Lou Holtz Show" hos Jeff Jeffers "Lou's Legacy" recaps the eleven
exciting years of Notre Dame Football under Coach Lou Holtz. These years, from 1986 through
1996 re-established Notre Dame as a National Football power, and guaranteed that Lou would
forever be known as a great Notre Dame Man.
