Experiences as a bombardier on a B-24 liberator.

Germany, he believes, was the thoroughness of the briefing that were given to all
combat crews before each mission.
“Long before dawn”, recalls Og, “on the days we were scheduled for combat,
our crew would be awaked and told what time we were expected in the group’s
huge assembly hall for briefing.

“Actually,” Og smiles, shaking his head in admiration, “briefing is the wrong word
to describe the instructions we received.

routes to get to our target, what to do and what to avoid.
We were also instructed as to weather conditions, target
identification and the type and amount of opposition we could expect……….
from ground anti-aircraft and enemy fighters.”

“In short,” Og continues, “by the time we lifted off the runway we had thoroughly
prepared to reach our goal.
